The Orioles could always use a grand slam to help them pull off a win in Camden Yards. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said, this can help revitalize Baltimore. He just announced a new program for people who want to buy a home in Baltimore. “Maryland Grand Slam will help change Maryland for the better by giving hardworking families that extra boost they need to get into the home of their dreams.” Governor Hogan said. This new program is not just for first time home buyers. People who have owned a home for at least three years and are looking to move into another home can also qualify.
It saves the home buyers money in four different ways:
1) $ 5000 for your down-payment in the form of a state grant
2) An additional $2500 grant for your down-payment in the city of Baltimore
3) A federal tax credit
4) 0.25 percent discount on Maryland Mortgage Program interest rates
The catch? Home buyers will have to complete a home buying class. The class has to be completed before entering into a contract if you are buying your first home. If you are a homeowner buying a new house, you have to complete the class before you close on the your new home.
